Twitter was born as a mobile network.
Back in July 2006, Jack Dorsey introduced the idea of creating an SMS (short message service, texting for example) that would allow users to communicate with a small group of people.
Thus, the “tweet” was born.
So it makes sense that Twitter is super mobile-friendly. There is a wealth of apps out there that can greatly enhance your Twitter experience beyond Twitter.com and the official Twitter app.

I’ve been having lots of fun lately trying out extensions and apps from the Google Chrome Web Store, and recently discovered a few hidden gems for managing Twitter. Proxlet Tweet Filter is one that deserves a mention.
There’s a fine line between “I just want you to shut up for one damn minute” and “I’m going to unfollow you.” Or, at least, that’s the premise of a new feature introduced by Handmark for Tweetcaster Thursday, called, appropriately enough, “Zip it.”
