Twitter In Talks With Viacom, NBC To Stream TV Content Within Tweets

Twitter is close to securing a partnership deal with two major television networks to bring high-quality video content and advertising to the micro-blogging social platform, says Bloomberg, citing sources that are familiar with the matter.

Twitter has been holding talks with Viacom and Comcast Corp’s NBC Universal, seeking to add more entertainment and news video which would stream within tweets directly on Twitter.

Popular URL shortener Bitly has acquired Twitterfeed, the tool that allows publishers to auto-send updates to Twitter and other platforms.

The purchase is essential a talent hire (an ‘acqhire’, as Peter Kafka of AllThingsD puts it), as Twitterfeed is made up of just one employee, Mario Menti.

Google’s Realtime Search Goes Offline As Deal With Twitter Ends

Head on over to Google today to search and you’ll notice something missing: real-time results.

This includes tweets from Twitter, but also Facebook Page updates, Quora, Google News, new web pages, newly updated pages, Friendfeed and even (gasp) MySpace.

In fact, so much is missing that Google’s Realtime Search has become entirely redundant and is now completely offline.
