What are the best books to read in 2011? Publisher’s Weekly and Amazon have both just released their guides to the Best Books of 2011.
The annual Amazon list includes Amazon’s Editor’s Picks for the Top 100 Books of the Year broken down into Top 10 lists by category, which includes the new category Kindle Singles. The best Kindle Singles include: Blood on the Tracks by Cecelia Holland; The Saint by Oliver Broudy; and Three Cups of Deceit by Jon Krakauer.
The PW Best Books 2011 Guide is available in a free web-based app form. The app includes an interactive presentation of the magazine’s 100 top book picks of the year plus the Top 40 books of the year. Follow this link to explore the app, which includes top 10 book lists by genre.
GalleyCat has more about the app: “The app mines PW’s archives for reviews, interviews and author profiles, for your background reading about these top reads. For example, if you click on the fiction category, the first title to pop up is The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides. The app includes a description of the book, a picture and the PW review of the title.”
