WEbook Is Running Halloween Writing Contest

WEbook, a digital book community, is running a Halloween-inspired writing contest.

The WEbook blog has more: “In honor of the upcoming holiday, we’re doing a pumpkin challenge. Your pumpkin can take any form (carved, cursed, animated, giant, murderous, a pie) but it must cause terror in a person or group of people. Real terror. None of that mushy “moderate fear” kind of thing. We’re also offering a holiday treat of a 300 word limit, so make use of that extra space with extreme vigilance. It won’t last.”

To submit an entry, start a new chapter on the WeBook page. The contest runs through Halloween at midnight, after which the WEbook editorial staff will pick their top 3 entries. The winners will be featured on the PageToFame.

Diesel eBook Store Launches Mash-Up Writing Contest

It’s October and in the spirit of Halloween, the Diesel eBook Store is running a writing contest inspired by vampires, zombies and werewolves.

To enter the contest, you have to rewrite the description of an actual romance novel from Harlequin, as if it were a vampire, werewolf or zombie novel. The winner of the contest will get an eReader.

Semi-finalists will have their entries displayed on Diesel’s Facebook page, and six finalists will have their work read at a party in New York City, which will be podcasted live.

All entrants are entered into a random drawing of $50 gift certificates, good for eBook downloads. The Grand prize winner can choose either a Nook or a Kobo as their prize.
