Doug Stambaugh has been named Vice President of global eBook market development and strategy at Simon & Schuster, a newly created position that has been established to support the publisher’s growing global eBook business.

“Previously inaccessible segments of the global population now have 24/7 access to our entire catalog of books, fueling explosive growth in sales around the world,” wrote Carolyn K. Reidy, president/CEO of Simon & Schuster in a memo. “These welcome developments call for a globally coordinated, strategic approach to our worldwide ebook business…”

In his new role, Stambaugh will be tasked with developing the publisher’s eBook business and positioning its titles globally. He will work to establish company-wide eBook policies, and will report to Dennis Eulau, EVP of operations at Simon & Schuster.”Doug is ideally suited for this position,” wrote Reidy in the memo.
