Amazon has launched the Kindle Store in Brazil. The new digital book store launches with more than 1.4 million books available to Brazilian customers. This includes more than 13,000 Portuguese-language books. Works include titles from Brazilian authors like Jorge AmadoLya Luft and Martha Medeiros, as well as Kindle eBook exclusives such as the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and 13 titles by Paulo Coelho.

In addition, Amazon will begin selling Kindle eReader devices in the country in the coming weeks for R$299. Kindle apps in Portuguese are also accessible in Brazil.

Amazon has been expanding Kindle’s international presence over the past couple of years. In April 2011, the company opened the Kindle store in Germany and in October 2011 Kindle France launched, following by Kindle Spain and Kindle Italy. In October 2012, Amazon launched the Kindle launched in Japan.
