The axe began falling at Tribune Co.'s flagship paper this week as part of company-wide staff layoffs. The Chicago Tribune will eliminate 80 of 578 newsroom jobs by the end of August, and cut its newshole by 13-14 percent each week... With Marcus Brauchli patrolling The Washington Post's sidelines until September 8, the day he's invested as the paper's next executive editor, the speculation is mounting about what he'll do first.
