Whitaker To Washington; Time Inc.'s Money Changes Hands
July 29, 2008 Mark Whitaker is headed to Washington. The former Newsweek editor and NBC News No. 2 is filling the void left by the late Tim Russert, who ran the bureau along with hosting Meet The Press. Whitaker will run the network's political and election coverage this campaign season and have "executive oversight" of the Sunday morning flagship, but he won't be hosting it -- at least not yet.
