Bloomberg News continues to staff up its new Bloomberg View opinion section. The paper already poached The New York Times deputy editorial page editor David Shipley, who turned around and snagged Mary Duenwald and Toby Harshaw from the Gray Lady. Shipley and his running mate Jamie Rubin also grab The Week executive editor Frank Wilkinson, The Atlantic's Tim Lavin, and Stuart Seldowitz, who spent more than 30 years in the State Department. The lavish amount of money flowing into Bloomberg's latest project is best symbolized by its headquarters: A 17,000-square-foot mansion on the Upper East Side...

The Newsweek/Daily Beast behemoth taps former World News with Diane Sawyer producer Susie Banikarim as executive producer of video... Lesley McKenzie trades her deputy editor spot at Los Angeles Confidential for the editor-in-chief role at Angeleno... The New York Daily News sees chief creative officer Jayne Gould and assignment editor Marie McGovern walk away. Managing editor Scott Wenger and deputy features editor Amy DiLuna also recently left... The Los Angeles Times Calendar section is losing staffers by the second. Maria Elena Fernandez is the third senior writer to leave this month...

The Huffington Post/AOL merger will create $20 million in synergies as well as some layoffs. Neither Arianna nor Tim Armstrong were willing to say how many people will lose their jobs. Last year, AOL handed out 2,300 pink slips. One person who won't be looking for a gig is Michael Calderone. The Yahoo! blogger departs for the friendly confines of HuffOL... Qorvis Communications partner Kelley McCormick takes a job as partner and COO at Gibraltar Associates... John Franck is Razor & Tie's new senior vice president, marketing...
