Now that Rebekah Brooks is out as president of News International, word comes that Dow Jones CEO Les Hinton has resigned, as well. Both worked for News Corp. during the period of the most egregious phone hacking, Hinton overseeing News International and Brooks editing News of the World. Rupert Murdoch called the loss of Hinton "unexpected" and "a matter of much sadness," and Brooks' resignation came just hours after News Corporation's second-biggest shareholder, Saudi Prince Al-waleed bin Talal, called for her head. (Rupert isn't the only Murdoch having a bad week, however. His wife, Wendi, has her debut movie coming out this weekend against Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II)...
Sid Evans gets rewarded for his toil at Garden & Gun. The editor-in-chief moves back to New York City to be Time Inc.'s group editor of its lifestyle division... Andrew Russeth is the New York Observer's new arts reporter and editor. He's written for Art+Auction and Modern Painters among other places... Joshua Green joins Bloomberg BusinessWeek as senior national correspondent... CQ Roll Call loses another staffer as Andrew Satter heads to the Center for American Progress where he'll be multimedia producer...
Jennifer Salke is officially president of NBC Entertainment. She is responsible for Modern Family and will be tasked with helping Bob Greenblatt restock the Peacock's flailing lineup. Salke replaced Angela Bromstad who departed in January... Kiran Chetry leaves CNN for a "very special opportunity elsewhere." No word on what that will be, but we'll find out shortly since her last day at the 24-hour news network is July 29th... Dateline NBC promotes Elizabeth Cole to executive producer. She had been executive editor on the show. Meanwhile, Kate Snow leaves Dateline to join Brian Williams' new show where she'll be a correspondent... Mosheh Oinounou says goodbye to Bloomberg TV for a gig at the Early Show. He'll be a senior producer... Andrew Ross Sorkin joins CNBC as co-anchor of Squawk Box. The Dealbook founder has been a contributor at the network and will continue working at The New York Times...
Jodi Kahn takes over as president of iVillage. She joined the company in 2008... PBS eliminates 21 positions including 13 current staffers and eight unfilled roles. Six jobs will be added, including two vice presidents... Fleishman-Hillard names Jack Modzelewski president of the Americas and makes seven other high-level changes... And there are changes at Breaking News, Bridal Guide, and more...
