CBS wants to fight flagging ratings with hard news. The Early Show remake will include Charlie Rose, Gayle King and a whole lot of headlines as the Eye attempts to catch up to Today and Good Morning America. Erica Hill and Jeff Glor will also have roles, which is nice since they were named anchors less than a year ago. One of the big concerns is how Rose, a noted night-owl, will handle the early mornings. Apparently, the solution is to let him start at 7:30 a.m. while Glor and Hill handle the first headline reading...

Jim Romenesko resigns at Poynter after 12 years of dedicated service. The departure is the result of an "attribution flap" that got the media world's blood up. Public enemy No. 1: Julie Moos, who started the entire ordeal with a post... W executive editor Ted Moncreiff and design director Joseph Logan say goodbye. Maura Egan, previously deputy editor of lifestyle, entertainment and culture at The Huffington Post and GQ's Anton Ioukhnovets join as features director and art director, respectively...

Reuters scores another name, grabbing USA Today cover story editor David Lindsey. He'll be Washington editor-at-large. He's been at the Gannett publication for more than a decade...
