HuffPost‘s Social Media Editor Mandy Jenkins is calling it quits to assume a new career path. “I’ve been hired by Digital First Media to convert their many small, local newspapers into digital/social media mini-powerhouses,” she writes in a goodbye letter to colleagues. She plans on writing another, sappier, goodbye note later.
Psst…Huffpost‘s on the hunt to replace her.
See the letter…

Subject: It’s the final countdown (for me)
Sorry to say it when we’re in the midst of so much excitement on the politics front, but I’m leaving HuffPost in a couple of weeks. My last day will be Feb. 17.
I’ll save all of the sappy stuff for later (and it WILL happen), but consider this a gentle prompt to get in any social media questions/training/account setup in the next couple of weeks. I’ll do whatever I can to help this place dominate the election cycle before I head out.
I’m leaving to take my career on a pretty different path. I’ve been hired by Digital First Media to convert their many small, local newspapers into digital/social media mini-powerhouses. I’m going to miss working with all of you (and in a newsroom, for that matter).
