Subject: Price and Rush Limbaugh – Politico Story is False
A story was published by Jonathan Martin in the Politico this afternoon that WRONGLY attributes a quote to Rep. Tom Price. Rep. Price never uttered the words that were WRONGLY attributed to him and we will be demanding a full retraction. Jonathan Martin never confirmed the quote with our office. If he had, we would have been able to correct is inaccurate reporting. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you.
Republican Study Committee
Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-6)
So what got Buck so fired up? The Politico.com-turned-DRUDGE headline featured Rep. Price saying “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks,” in response to criticism of current GOP leadership. Though ‘geographically’ accurate, the statement was actually made by Rep. Phil Gingrey, another House member from Georgia.
Nearly two hours later, Politico corrected the story adding:
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the GOP member as Rep. Tom Price. Politico regrets the error.
With Brendan Buck on the case, I bet you do!
> Update: Jonathan Martin emails FishbowlDC: “I deeply regret the error – it was inexcusable. We quickly corrected it online and I apologized to Mr. Buck. I will also personally convey my regret to Mr. Price.”
