Llewellyn King Sheds Light on Changes for “White House Chronicle”

Llewellyn KingA little (anonymous tip) birdie told us recently that Llewellyn King, host and creator of “White House Chronicle” — a weekly news and public affairs program now in its 18th year on more than 200 television stations including PBS, Sirius XM’s POTUS channel, and Voice of America — is “preparing a radical overhaul of his television program.”

We reached out to King, who said that while no plans are set to drastically change the program, he has been exploring new options for partnership.

“I would love to meet up with a print publisher who wants to get into television, and just revitalize the franchise that way. It’s a very good franchise. We have excellent following on Sirius XM for the audio and pretty spread out but good syndication on PBS and paid stations.” Read more

Jonathan Karl Asks Josh Earnest About President’s Knowledge of @BarackObama

Screen Shot 2014-07-07 at 14.16.23Jonathan Karl posed a question to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest at today’s press briefing on the topic of a ‘Throwback Thursday’ Tweet by @BarackObama referencing “when a woman—not her boss—made her own decisions about her health care.”

“Does he even read the others?” asked Karl about ones not signed with his initials. “Does he know they’re going out? Are they reviewed by senior people at the White House or is that just simply OFA doing something on his behalf?”

Sarah Palin Talks Hard Choices, Political Talk Show with The Hollywood Reporter

OrVIIAlaThe Hollywood Reporter’s Marisa Guthrie this morning published a Q&A with Sarah Palin after the Sportsman Channel ordered a second season of her namesake show “Amazing America with Sarah Palin.”

The former Vice Presidential candidate answered questions about the series, which explores “what makes America amazing,” as well as some questions more focused ‘inside the Beltway.’

On whether she’d ever host her own television, radio, or Internet political talk show, Palin didn’t object.

“Maybe. But the politics would have to be interspersed with a whole lot of fun and real life and inspiration showcasing American work ethic, because those topics are all pretty much the antithesis of today’s politics, which I find incorrigibly disastrous!” She went on to add, “It’d be so much fun to shake it up taking on issues that make audiences objectively consider all sides, and I’d do it with my own real-life groundedness, candor and commonsense that I’m known for.” Read more

Best Quotes from the Sunday Shows – 7.6.14

Texas Gov. Rick Perry on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” : “The rule of law is that ‘The Constitution’ requires the United States to secure the border. And we’re not doing that. We haven’t done it for years. And we are paying a huge price.”

Sen. John McCain on the topic of Hillary Clinton on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” : “I respect her views. We have had disagreements on a number of issues. But I think it’s my job to work with every president if she, regrettably, attains the presidency.”

Also on “Face,” Sen. Lindsey Graham spoke on the threat of terrorism : “Al Qaeda’s not decimated. The groups operating in Pakistan and now Afghanistan are lethal. They’re growing. We’re about to shut down our ability to detect what they’re up to and hit them before they hit us. This literally is insane given the way the world has fallen apart.” Read more

Yahoo News’ Olivier Knox Offers Look at President Obama’s ‘Secret Schedule’

whitehouseWhile much – or some – of the President of the United States’ daily schedule is listed online for public consumption, his private schedule, detailing a more minute-by-minute look at Obama’s day, was the focus of a recent piece by Yahoo News’ Olivier Knox.

“It’s a document so closely held that Obama aides, like their counterparts under George W. Bush, are expected to dispose of it at day’s end in ‘burn bags’ typically reserved for documents so sensitive they cannot be consigned to mere shredding,” wrote Knox.

The private schedule is delivered in hard copy form at 7am to the desks of senior aides and includes a disclaimer showcasing the sensitivity of the document – “This schedule contains sensitive information and is provided for your information only. It may not be distributed, forwarded, or printed without the express written permission of the Director of Scheduling.”
