I’m a freelance writer, researcher and photographer covering stories on travel, culture and society. I’m usually based in Kuala Lumpur, but travel occasionally. I write reported, explanatory and narrative features, as well as travel guides and blogs—some of which have been published at CNN, Slate, Roads and Kingdoms, Esquire Malaysia, and The Malaysian Insider, among others. I’m also a researcher on a series of historical documentaries about Malaysia’s struggle for nationhood, produced by Rack Focus Films in Kuala Lumpur and broadcast on the National Geographic and History channels.
