Professional Experience

Recently returned from covering everything from the illegal trade in antiquities to politics and crime for a national newspaper in Cambodia, I am now turning my attention to freelancing full-time. I'll consider any subject if it takes my fancy, but have experience writing about travel, music, photography, education and the environment for national and local magazines and newspapers. I am fast, reliable and excellent at adapting to different writing styles.

General

This article is a front-page investigative scoop about a new sub-decree planned by the Cambodian Government that would give them the central in all contract farming deals. The article revealed an alarmingly inadequate consultation process for the sub-decree, and a planned arbitration process that was to include representation for businesses, but none for farmers. This story was followed by other local news organisations. Page two to follow.
Here is the jump from the above front-page investigative article about contract farming in Cambodia.
A review of an extensive exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York of photographer Robert Frank's book 'The Americans'. In 1955, Frank had applied for, and won, a Guggenheim Fellowship enabling him to "make a broad voluminous picture record of things American." The result was 'The Americans', a book of 83 photographs of everyday folk, places and things; bikers, politicians and nannies, diners, Detroit car factories and the great American road, endlessly stretching ahead.
A first-person narrative feature about my experiences as a tutor to wealthy families. The style is warm and humorous and the article weaves serious reporting with anecdotes that chart the trials and tribulations of the job. This article was written under a pseudonym.
