Professional Experience

A tenured professor of English at Oberlin College and widely-published freelance writer, I write about new media, writing, education, academia, publishing, literature and history. I have authored a book of narrative non-fiction and a textbook for college composition, written dozens of national magazine features, served as a literary columnist for GOOD magazine for two years and worked as a freelance development editor. My magazine writing has lead to many national media appearances and my last feature was chosen for "Best Technology Writing 2010." I have experience developing educational materials, including development editing and writing curricular resources for teachers. I am based in Cleveland, Ohio.
