Word to the wise: Visit They Draw & Cook after you’ve eaten a big, satisfying meal — or have snacks at hand. Because it will make you so. Ridiculously. Hungry. The website, the brainchild of CCAD alum Salli Swindell and her brother, Nate Padavick, is stuffed with thousands of illustrated recipes by artists from around the world.
A few years ago, Brian Kellett and Emily Brown probably didn’t seem like the plant store type. Brian, a CCAD-trained photographer was working at Rockmill Brewery, and Emily was studying industrial design at CCAD. But after Emily worked on a project about the horticulture industry as a student at CCAD, things changed. In 2015, the couple opened STUMP, a dreamy plant shop that looks more like a gallery than a garden center.
Cori and Benjamin Rowley met while studying at CCAD and found their creative (and romantic) fortunes entwined almost from the start. Today, they co-own Yellowood Design, where they restore and design vintage and antique axes, hatchets and other blades, while working other full-time jobs and raising a family.
