Sofia Geld (Filmmaker) Sofia Geld (Filmmaker) Sofia Geld is a Brazilian filmmaker based in Brooklyn. Sofia received her B.A. in anthropology from Bard College, and has since been working in the field of documentary film. Sofia was Associate Producer on the hybrid documentary ELENA the most watched Brazilian documentary of 2014, focusing on themes of depression and suicide directed by Petra Costa. She was selected to be a UnionDocs Collaborative Studios fellow, and collaborated with 8 artists on producing and directing 8 short films. Sofia also directed and produced a HUSH, a personal documentary dealing with themes of disability for a fellowship with Downtown Community Television Center, screened both in New York and Moscow. She has directed music videos, and was the Director of Photography for a Skylight Community Short Film about the Poor People’s Campaign in Selma, Alabama. She currently works as a consultant at Skylight Inc.
