Professional Experience

Writing about health and psychology is my passion. A prolific journalist and author, I focus on health, medicine, mental health, psychology, and the mind/body connection. Along with extensive experience, I have a master's degree in psychology. My byline appears widely on major websites, and I blog about "Minding the Body" for Psychology Today. I'm also the author or coauthor of fourteen books, including six books about adolescent mental health for Oxford University Press. In addition, I create custom content for dozens of large medical centers and health insurance plans around the country. Much of my writing focuses on factors that foster health and happiness - things such as diet, exercise, mindfulness, sleep, stress management, and a connection with nature. I have a special interest in health promotion and disease prevention. But I also write frequently about living well with chronic illnesses, such as anxiety, depression, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, and COPD.
