Vince Flynn Builds Character Database with Help from Friends

With 14 political thrillers published, novelist Vince Flynn gets hundreds of reader requests every year for a character index–so the novelist decided to build the database online with help from his fans.

If you want to submit character names for the index, you can use this online form. Flynn will publish the database as a free eBook, including his readers inside the book.

I would like to create a character database for VinceFlynn.com and also offer the information in a free eBook, but I’m busy writing the next Rapp novel so I’m going to need to enlist The Rapp Pack. Together, we’re going to create the Ultimate Vince Flynn Database and have it online and in eBook form by this fall … We’ll do our best to keep the link updated so you can see who has already been suggested … I will make sure that everyone who contributes will be listed in the eBook version of the character index, so please send in your full names along with your suggestions-your names will live on forever in the US Library of Congress!

Vince Flynn Thriller Tops Amazon’s Top 100 Paid List with $14.99 eBook

Novelist Vince Flynn‘s American Assassin rocketed to the top of Amazon’s Top 100 Paid Kindle Books list despite a pricing controversy among Amazon users.

The hardcover currently sells for $15.11 on Amazon while the Kindle edition sells for $14.99. As of this writing, that controversial price point has generated nearly 60 comments as readers argue about fair eBook prices.

Joel A. Charbonnet Jr. led the resistance on Amazon: “Okay everyone, get the word out on Facebook, Twitter and all the other social networks to boycott Vince Flynn’s book “American Assassin: A Thriller” in all formats until the eBook price is reduced at least $2.00 below the Hardcover sale price. If you own any other eReader beside the Kindle get the word out to those platforms as well. If we don’t put a stop to this type of price fixing, the publishers will run rogue with their prices and we will never get it to where it should be!”

Sloan Harris Promoted at ICM

Publishers Marketplace reports that Sloan Harris has been promoted to co-head of publications at ICM, which in Variety’s words “essentially establishes him as heir apparent to run the agency’s Gotham-based powerhouse book operation in the years to come.” The 44-year-old agent will share his new title with Esther Newberg, who has run the book department with fellow EVP Amanda Urban since 1988. Urban is dropping the co-head role; instead, she will turn her attention to running the agency’s international book biz, especially the London office, which she set up several years ago.

Some of Harris’s most notable clients include Hampton Sides, Anthony Lane, Vince Flynn, Anthony Swofford, Michael Paterniti, Susan Casey and George Pelecanos. ICM co-president Chris Silbermann said in a statement that “Sloan has the best of both worlds here. He is a 17-year veteran who is at a time and place in his career where he’s stepping up and taking on managerial responsibility, a growth that has happened organically. At the same time, he is supported by Esther and Binky, who are two of the best publishing agents of their generation and who have built the preeminent publishing agency in New York. We are set up for future growth and a fluid evolution. This is about embracing change while keeping the stability that the department has always had.”
