Plumbing Designer

The Plumbing Designer will be responsible for designing systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. These drawings will be used for BIM coordination, pre-fabrication, and installation.

Job Duties

• Design and develop plumbing and fire protection systems, including hot/cold water, waste/vent, storm drainage, and gas systems.
• Prepare load calculations, fixture specifications, schedules, riser diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Work with AutoCAD (Revit experience is a plus) to draft piping systems and coordinate with project teams.
• Supervise junior designers, drafters, and technical assistants.
• Ensure compliance with building codes (IPC, NFPA 99, and other relevant standards).
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and local authorities.
• Provide on-site verification of plumbing systems and support construction administration.

Requirements

• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• 5+ years of Plumbing design experience
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and practices
• Experience in drafting schematics and technical drawings with attention to detail
• Familiarity with building, plumbing, and fire protection codes
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey design concepts

Preferred

• Revit/BIM experience preferred
• Plumbing Systems Design Certificate (from ASPE or similar)

Pay Range

• $33 38/hr
