Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the technical aspects and deliverables of substation communication projects.
  • Support project scoping by reviewing existing communication infrastructure, standards, and providing recommendations.
  • Technical review of substation protection and control schematics from a communication/SCADA perspective.
  • Develop RTU and EMS points lists and documentation.
  • Create configurations for RTUs, HMIs, I/O devices, meters, PLCs, and network devices.
  • Execute testing and troubleshooting in labs.
  • Coordinate relay communication parameters and EMS database changes.
  • Provide technical support to field technicians.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of communication projects.
  • Work independently and mentor less-experienced team members.
  • Participate in training, seminars, and industry presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in substation communication and SCADA engineering, including specific systems and protocols listed.
  • Experience with utility or consulting firms preferred.
  • Local candidates preferred; some travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Extensive project execution experience in the Power Market Sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sector-specific design software.
