Job Title: Product Manager - Activewear
Our client, a well-known retailer in the active space, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Product Manager to join their team on a full-time basis.
The Product Manager will serve as a key liaison between various departments, ensuring all products meet high-quality standards. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a passion for activewear.
Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Act as the primary liaison with production, fabric and trim suppliers, patternmaking, design teams, merchandising, and marketing for assigned product lines.
- Ensure all product details adhere to approved quality standards throughout development.
- Maintain development charts and status updates to track progress across all stages of product development.
- Serve as the point of contact for overseas factories, facilitating clear communication regarding specifications and updates.
- Create and manage detailed spec sheets for each style at all lifecycle stages, including costing, samples, and production phases.
- Communicate essential information to factories, including specifications, patterns, and sew-by samples, while managing changes during the process.
- Collaborate with the product development manager and designer to approve samples and garments for production.
- Coordinate with the patternmaking team to prepare graded tech packages for factories.
- Participate in fit meetings and provide feedback to the patternmaker.
- Assign and maintain style numbers in the style master database.
- Set up and maintain master templates for each assigned line per season.
- Execute all sample lines, including special make-ups, by designated factory deadlines.
- Work closely with quality control teams to uphold sewing and construction standards for all garments.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and fabric science, including knits/wovens, stretch fabrics, dyeing, and finishing processes.
- Experience in fitting garments and creating/revising specifications effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email communication; capable of taking clear photos during fittings.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and a strong ability to follow up on tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly across departments.
- A sense of urgency and an intuitive understanding of priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic who can work independently as a self-starter.
- Prior experience in swimwear/activewear is preferred; experience in sportswear will be considered.
- A solid understanding of tech packs and knowledge of apparel product development timelines are essential.
