Education
The Nutrition Program Services (NPS) Division of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) manages Child Nutrition programs and is developing a new application for the summer EBT program to ensure compliance with USDA regulations and improve system efficiency.
Sample Tasks
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints, ensuring user-first designs.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions.
- Develop UX architecture including sitemaps, journey maps, wireflows, and taxonomy designs.
- Design low- and high-fidelity prototypes for validation and iterative improvements.
- Create reusable component libraries and design systems for consistency across platforms.
- Develop web components aligned with HTML/CSS standards, ensuring WCAG accessibility compliance.
- Work with developers to implement designs accurately and seamlessly.
- Provide knowledge transfer to State staff.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience, with at least 3 years using tools like Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, Axure, or Adobe XD.
- Experience in human-centered design, UX/UI principles, accessibility, and usability, including creating customer journey maps and information architectures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting design ideas to diverse audiences.
- Experience in creating interactive prototypes for testing.
- Knowledge of A/B testing, analytics, and data-driven design.
- Experience in building reusable component libraries and design systems.
- Strong user-first mindset and advocacy for end-user needs.
- Critical thinking and creativity to solve design and technical challenges.
