Responsibilities:

1. Quickly yet thoroughly create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors.
2. Work closely with cross-functional teams to define business and feature requirements via empirical online data, usability findings, market research, and proven UCD principles.
3. Assess and optimize the performance of features by participating in usability testing and interpreting analytics data using Omniture SiteCatalyst.
4. Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and executives for review and feedback.
5. Contribute to user interface design and development best practices and standards.
6. Provide leadership in ecommerce trends, web application design, and user interface innovations.

Requirements:

1. Minimum of 3 years industry experience providing interaction design solutions for web and/or software applications.
2. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
3. Fluency in web-based information architecture and usability principles.
4. Proficiency in design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Visio, Figma, and Dreamweaver (at least 3).
5. A strong online portfolio demonstrating relevant design solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to convey complex design concepts.
2. Self-starter, customer-obsessed, detail-oriented, and a team player.
3. Ability to work with technical teams and handle multiple projects in an agile environment.
4. Prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or Flash is a plus.

Horizontal offers competitive compensation and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement. The pay range for this role is $25 - $57 per hour, subject to experience and location.
