Job Summary

The Lockwood Group is seeking a Logistics Technical Writer to support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center. The role involves developing, updating, and managing technical publications and illustrations for military systems, requiring experience in technical documentation, logistics support, and adherence to DoD standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and logistics publications following military standards such as MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-2361, S1000D.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, engineers, and logisticians to produce clear, concise documentation.
  • Create technical illustrations and diagrams using AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Creo Illustrate.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and Army logistics policies, including ILS, LCSP, and LPD.
  • Conduct reviews and validation of documentation with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Develop IETMs compatible with military electronic publication systems.
  • Manage document configuration, version control, and distribution.
  • Support training materials and other logistics documentation as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in military technical writing or logistics documentation.
  • Proficiency in XML/SGML authoring tools like Arbortext, FrameMaker.
  • Understanding of military logistics, maintenance, and sustainment engineering.
  • Experience with technical illustration tools and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with Army and DoD logistics systems such as LMP, GCSS-Army, PLM.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with S1000D development.
  • Previous work with U.S. Army Technical Manuals and IADS.
  • Knowledge of AMC and DEVCOM policies.

Salary

  • $75,000 to $100,000 annually.
