Promote and develop successful learning strategies for students in fine arts classes to foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Engage students with appropriate activities designed to support their intellectual, emotional, and creative growth. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, district policies, procedures, and regulations.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district’s fine arts program, demonstrating thorough preparation and accommodations for diverse learning styles.
  2. Use TEKS as instructional objectives, adhering to guidelines from the Texas Education Agency and UIL rules, and possess the necessary skills to teach the assigned curriculum.
  3. Employ appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials tailored to students’ learning styles and needs, including helping students analyze and improve their study methods.
  4. Assess student achievement through formative and summative methods and utilize results to inform instruction.
  5. Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs and coordinate with other teachers to meet instructional goals.
  6. Integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning and create a conducive classroom environment.
  7. Handle extracurricular activities and supervise instructional aides and volunteers as assigned.

Communication

  • Maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, staff, and community members.
  • Conduct regular conferences to discuss student progress and use clear, professional communication methods.

Student Growth and Development

  • Assess and provide feedback on student achievement; support extracurricular activities and serve as a positive role model.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Manage student behavior per district policies, select instructional materials, and maintain required records.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in training, stay current with TEKS curriculum changes, and contribute to faculty activities and committees.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend work regularly, uphold a professional image, and perform other duties as assigned.

Virtual and Online Teaching Duties

  • Design and implement virtual lessons, be available for communication, and create a supportive online learning environment.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Work involves prolonged standing, sitting, physical movement, and may include work outside or from home, with exposure to noise and environmental factors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements, competency in the subject area, and relevant experience, including student teaching or internship.
