The Video Monitor Technician is responsible for the continuous visualization of the rhythm surveillance monitoring system for patients with compromised cognitive conditions. They are also responsible for documenting and communicating surveillance activities.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; healthcare terminology coursework preferred.
- Direct patient care experience in a clinical setting is required.
- Certification: BLS preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assigned 4 to 8-hour shifts in the VM room.
- Cell phones are not to be used in the VM room during shifts; they must be stored in a designated area.
- Receive patient monitoring reports from RN or Supervisor.
- Enter patient information into the monitoring software accurately.
- Introduce self to patient via monitor audio upon shift start and as appropriate.
- Record the start of monitoring and reasons in the patient log.
- Monitor patients, verbally redirect as needed via 2-way audio.
- Contact nursing staff directly if patient issues arise.
- Activate STAT Alert alarms for emergent situations.
- Record interventions, patient cues, and staff calls in the Intervention Log.
- Document patient activities every four hours.
- Scan and send logs to Nursing Units before shift end.
- Initiate privacy curtains upon request, setting timers as needed.
- Update patient status and follow-up times.
- Assist in identifying patients for potential discontinuation of monitoring.
- Report patient status and behaviors to oncoming staff.
- Notify Supervisor of monitor usage, providing relevant logs and requests.
- Respect patient privacy during sensitive activities, coordinating with clinical staff.

Salary Range: $15.92-20.87/hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. The range may vary by location.
