Job Description
Howard Technology Solutions is a rapidly expanding technology solutions provider serving the K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Government, and Commercial markets. We are seeking a motivated, well-organized AV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, a solid understanding of AV best practices and standards, basic knowledge of signal flow, troubleshooting abilities, and experience in installing, testing, and commissioning custom commercial AV integrated systems.
Responsibilities
- Review project documentation and consult with the project manager to understand installation requirements.
- Install AV system components such as displays, projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, control systems, and racks following industry best practices and project scope.
- Provide on-site service and support for installed AV systems.
- Verify delivery and shipment of gear to the job site.
- Maintain effective communication with customers and project management.
- Lead subcontractors on-site when necessary.
- Support off-site programming resources as needed.
- Keep the Project Manager informed about installation progress.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with installing, testing, and commissioning custom AV systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve AV system issues.
- Knowledge of signal flow, signal types, cabling, connectors, and terminations.
- Ability to read and interpret AV schematics, CAD drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
- Willingness to travel within designated territories and occasionally overnight; reliable transportation required.
- Familiarity with products like Crestron, Extron, Epson, Samsung, Vaddio, AMX, Biamp, and DaLite is preferred.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, lift at least 40 lbs, work at heights up to 60 feet, and work on man-lifts.
- At least 1 year of commercial AV experience preferred.
- Experience installing and commissioning small to medium AV systems.
- Understanding of systems integration and basic IP networking.
- General CTS certification preferred; ability to obtain CTS-I within 24 months.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
