Job Description

Howard Technology Solutions is a rapidly expanding technology solutions provider serving the K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare, Government, and Commercial markets. We are seeking a motivated, well-organized AV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, a solid understanding of AV best practices and standards, basic knowledge of signal flow, troubleshooting abilities, and experience in installing, testing, and commissioning custom commercial AV integrated systems.

Responsibilities

  1. Review project documentation and consult with the project manager to understand installation requirements.
  2. Install AV system components such as displays, projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, amplifiers, control systems, and racks following industry best practices and project scope.
  3. Provide on-site service and support for installed AV systems.
  4. Verify delivery and shipment of gear to the job site.
  5. Maintain effective communication with customers and project management.
  6. Lead subcontractors on-site when necessary.
  7. Support off-site programming resources as needed.
  8. Keep the Project Manager informed about installation progress.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Strong communication skills.
  2. Experience with installing, testing, and commissioning custom AV systems.
  3. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve AV system issues.
  4. Knowledge of signal flow, signal types, cabling, connectors, and terminations.
  5. Ability to read and interpret AV schematics, CAD drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
  6. Willingness to travel within designated territories and occasionally overnight; reliable transportation required.
  7. Familiarity with products like Crestron, Extron, Epson, Samsung, Vaddio, AMX, Biamp, and DaLite is preferred.
  8. Physical ability to climb ladders, lift at least 40 lbs, work at heights up to 60 feet, and work on man-lifts.
  9. At least 1 year of commercial AV experience preferred.
  10. Experience installing and commissioning small to medium AV systems.
  11. Understanding of systems integration and basic IP networking.
  12. General CTS certification preferred; ability to obtain CTS-I within 24 months.
  13. Proficiency in MS Office.
