Job Overview

Provides video monitoring to enhance patient safety and assists in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Core Duties and Responsibilities

The following are general responsibilities for this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed:

1. Performs video monitoring of patients meeting criteria.
2. Documents patient activity and interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR) every two hours.
3. Maintains logs indicating nurse names and wireless phone extensions for monitored patients.
4. Informs caregivers of activities that may risk patient safety via wireless phones.
5. Communicates signs of patient risk to staff using alarm systems or wireless phones.
6. Manages patient entries and deletions in the video monitoring system during admission, transfer, and discharge.
7. Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining the video monitoring equipment.
8. Monitors equipment and reports malfunctions to service personnel.
9. Maintains clean work areas and equipment according to departmental procedures.
10. Supports routine unit operations for smooth communication and functioning.
11. Ensures positive communication with other units/staff and documents follow-ups.
12. Answers phone courteously, always identifying self and unit.
13. Relays messages accurately with timely documentation.
14. Maintains HIPAA and JCAHO standards.

Physical Requirements

Minimal physical activity required. Ability to sit for long periods. Vision and hearing within normal limits (corrected if necessary).

Work Environment

Visual monitoring of multiple screens for extended periods. Close collaboration with colleagues.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficiency in computer use.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
