Position: Writing Tutor - Learning Center (Pocono)
We invite applications for future openings. Since specific needs are not always known, qualified applicants will be placed into a pool for consideration as positions become available. When a vacancy arises, the hiring managers will review this pool, and those selected will be contacted.
Position Details
This is a part-time position (approximately 10 to 25 hours per week) located at our Pocono Campus in Tannersville, PA. Tutors support student success through personalized assistance, helping students understand course material, develop effective learning strategies, and engage in critical thinking. Tutoring sessions may occur individually, in small groups, on campus, or online. Tutors will receive College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training and are expected to obtain certification within one year. Additional duties include participating in staff meetings, ongoing professional development, responding promptly to communications, and maintaining accurate records. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the subject(s) to be tutored
- An Associate degree or higher in the relevant discipline or a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- A grade of B or above in each course the candidate intends to tutor
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical abilities, patience, and a genuine desire to assist diverse students in learning and succeeding
- Previous tutoring experience is a plus but not required
