Position Summary

The Department of Art at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions in Studio Art, new media. MSU Denver is NASAD accredited and offers study in interdisciplinary artistic practices as well as media-specific coursework. The successful candidate will be interested in teaching classes that contribute to the contemporary focus of our Studio Art program.

Responsibilities

Teach one to three classes in areas such as four-dimensional studio foundations, integrated media, photography, multimedia, installation, performance art, social practice art, or other new media. Classes may be offered in person, remotely, or in hybrid formats.

Affiliate faculty duties include:

  • Teaching assigned classes in person or online, delivering course content, preparing materials, grading, providing feedback, and addressing student questions in accordance with university policies.
  • Providing instruction aligned with the course syllabus and department policies.
  • Maintaining office hours and complying with university evaluation and peer observation policies.

Required Qualifications

  • BA in Art
  • Three years of professional and/or teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA in Art with significant recognition or MA/MFA in Art with relevant experience
  • Experience working with diverse urban student populations, including students of color, LGBTQIA students, first-generation, students with disabilities, and others

Terms of Employment

Part-time, at-will employment on a per-credit-hour basis, usually semester-by-semester. No benefits are provided. Teaching is expected to be in person upon hire.
