The Adjunct Faculty, Department of English & Literature position is a part-time role responsible for delivering excellence in teaching aligned with the mission and strategic goals of the Department.
Currently hiring faculty to teach College Writing and Research (ENG1107) classes for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. References will be checked upon scheduling an interview.
What will I do in this position?
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deliver assigned coursework in English and literature courses.
- Actively participate as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ by partnering with colleagues to disciple students, fostering their intellectual and spiritual growth, and partnering with Northwestern Media to lead people to Christ and nurture believers.
What will it take to succeed in this position?
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree plus significant relevant professional and teaching experience preferred.
- Availability to teach during daytime hours is preferred.
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and uphold Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Christian community principles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Availability to teach during scheduled hours and flexibility in schedule.
- Ability to integrate a Christian worldview into instruction.
- Effective communication skills, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer skills and ability to accurately type and use computers for job responsibilities.
- Ability to pass background checks.

Work involves a Christian university setting where staff share a commitment to the mission and values of Northwestern and adhere to all policies.

Compensation Range: $832 – $1,132 per credit
