Position Overview
Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on an as-needed basis. These positions are filled prior to or during the start of each semester and depend on the College's needs.
Adjunct faculty must complete the Lee Training Online Certification course or provide documentation of training in distance education.
Lee College accepts applications for adjunct employment throughout the year from qualified individuals willing to teach part-time. Academic departments will contact potential applicants when openings are available.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach freshman and sophomore-level Instrumental Music courses.
- Lead rehearsals and concerts for large ensembles and participate in community projects, such as the Baytown Symphony Orchestra.
- Be committed to student learning, integrate technology into the curriculum, and encourage engaged scholarship.
- Maintain accurate student records in accordance with Lee College requirements.
- Submit required student reports to the Admissions & Records Office as scheduled.
- Direct and evaluate student learning in line with curricula and procedures.
- Teach assigned classes using approved syllabi, outlines, and materials.
- Provide counseling or guidance to students as needed.
- Possibly teach evening, summer, online, hybrid, dual enrollment, or weekend classes.
- Provide at least one scheduled office hour per week per three-credit course in a 16-week semester, or two hours in an 8-week term. Office hours may be in-person, via telephone, or through Blackboard Collaborate, and must include live availability.
May be required to teach courses such as:
- Music Literature
- Sophomore Music Theory
- Sophomore Sight Singing and Ear Training
- American Music
- Jazz Ensemble
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold a Master's (or higher) degree in the teaching field or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject area.
Preferred:
- Prior online teaching experience and certification
- Experience with Blackboard Learning Management System
