CTL Student Learning Assistance is a program available to UNM students enrolled in undergraduate classes. Our mission is to enrich the academic climate at UNM and create lifelong learners.

Writing tutors are committed to helping students become more proficient writers. They provide support to students enrolled in various courses at UNM, assisting in different stages of undergraduate writing, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, organizing, and revising. Tutors offer helpful feedback on writing, mechanics, grammar, and style but do not write or edit for students. They may also facilitate writing workshops. As part of the CTL team, student staff attend regular training focused on writing and tutoring practices to enhance their effectiveness.

  • Offering basic guidance on American English, including grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and academic style, with cultural sensitivity.
