Job Title Assistant Professor in 3D, Sculpture, and Design Thinking Rank Assistant Professor Tenure Information Tenure Track Job DescriptionProvidence College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Department of Art and Art History at the assistant professor level, beginning August 1, 2024. We seek a nimble thinker and active creator to teach courses in Design Thinking, Visual Design 3D, and Sculpture. The faculty member will supervise a suite of studio spaces including a computer lab, flexible maker space, and wood shop.

The Design Thinking courses fulfill a requirement of the Business and Innovation minor (

), and the position will work closely with the program director to manage enrollments and contribute to the shape of that program. In the 3D and Sculpture courses, students will include majors and minors in studio art and art history, as well as many students from across the College taking courses to fulfill a fine arts core requirement. Supervision and mentoring of advanced studio art majors and minors in 3D areas is expected.

Depending on the expertise and interests of the person hired, aspects of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, installations, architectural practice, industrial and product design, and time-based and multi-media art may be incorporated into the curriculum. Pedagogical cooperation and coordination with our thriving PC Galleries' exhibitions and programming is also desired.
