Contributions

Role:

Service Designer You will be responsible for guiding government clients through our Design Intelligence framework, incorporating human-centered methods to solve end-to-end organizational and experience challenges. You will lead and facilitate discovery sessions to uncover customer pain points and identify enterprise opportunities. You will serve as the voice of the customer, ensuring their needs are considered and met within proposed solutions.

Responsibilities

Participate in discovery to understand client mission, goals, stakeholders, users, ecosystems, current journeys, user segments, and project objectives. Conduct workshops and interviews to define pain points, opportunities, problem statements, and validate hypotheses. Synthesize research and data to communicate insights and make strategic recommendations for mission, service, workflow innovations, and future experience visions. Create journey maps, service blueprints, vision roadmaps, personas, ecosystem maps, and experience maps to articulate needs, gaps, and actionable recommendations. Collaborate with stakeholders and communicate needs within an agile, cross-functional team. Understand and incorporate technological and operational constraints into research and design processes. Ensure all deliverables meet high-quality standards across projects.

Qualifications

Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance. 6+ years of experience in human-centered design, service design, or customer experience design. Current portfolio demonstrating relevant skills, methods, and craft. Experience conducting primary and secondary research, including stakeholder and user interviews, workshops, and applying insights to various design artifacts. Strategic and holistic thinking across multiple workstreams and ecosystems. Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams, integrating research and design into technical sprints. Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Mural, and Lucidchart. Desire to stay current with industry tools and practices, with the ability to recommend improvements. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including UX/UI designers, technologists, data scientists, engineers, and others. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience working in project-based environments. Degree or equivalent experience in HCD or service design. Bonus Points Previous experience with the federal government. Experience as a consultant.

About Steampunk

Steampunk’s salary depends on various factors including location, education, skills, and experience. The projected salary range is $120,000 to $180,000 annually.
