Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Studio IT Manager!


This role involves delivering innovative IT services for both Santa Monica Studio and the PlayStation Studios Motion Capture Stage. Under the IT Director's guidance, the Studio IT Manager will lead a team of support specialists and senior Systems Administrators, providing support and engineering for workstations and infrastructure.


You will deliver tailored IT solutions supporting award-winning titles, collaborating with other IT teams within SIE and Sony to meet studio needs.


Studio IT emphasizes customer service, building support relationships, and maintaining high technical and professional standards.


You should be experienced with client technologies, responsible for implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning, and proactive in building strong relationships with users. You must prioritize customer needs, ensuring solutions are safe and secure.


The Studio IT Manager manages all on-site IT functions, collaborates with other teams, develops annual budgets, and handles expenditures. The ideal candidate has strong social, technical, and management skills, with a thorough understanding of computers and network operations in a creative environment.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the Studio IT team in supporting title development and delivery.
  • Identify staffing needs and recruit accordingly.
  • Adapt to changing environments and handle unexpected events.
  • Analyze metrics to benchmark workload and performance, and communicate findings.
  • Maintain high customer service standards, prioritize issues, and communicate effectively.
  • Develop cross-team expertise and respond effectively to issues.
  • Review employee performance, handle training and development.
  • Ensure team responsiveness, professionalism, and technical knowledge.
  • Monitor and report on IT services and support levels.
  • Maintain technical leadership and ensure staff training.
  • Manage work schedules and coverage based on studio needs.
  • Assess risks related to changes affecting the studio.
  • Perform hands-on support when necessary.

Requirements


  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, IT, or related field; or 7+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, experience in a classified environment, problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Mac and Windows OS.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem resolution skills.
  • Leadership skills, ability to delegate and lead projects.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate among teams and ensure support continuity.
  • Effective communication with customers and IT groups.
  • Champion innovation, diversity, collaboration, and communication.
  • Maintain IT documentation and support processes.
  • Multitasking skills, handle complex issues efficiently.
  • Availability for off-hours work and travel (~10%).

Preferred Experience


  • Experience with Linux.
  • Networking and storage management experience.

Base salary range: $154,600—$231,800 USD. Compensation may vary based on location, experience, and other factors. This role includes a comprehensive benefits package, potential bonuses, and other perks. Learn more here.
