Position Profile This position will work within our Infrastructure Market in the Bridges Discipline for highway bridge projects, as well as bridge projects in the Railway Market and potentially other structural projects in all of Hanson’s Markets.
This is an entry-level position focused on professional learning, growth, and increasing responsibility in design and construction engineering for a broad range of structural engineering assignments, including highway and railway bridges.
A Day in the Life of a Bridge Designer at Hanson Here’s what you would do in this role:
Assist in design engineering.
Participate in the inspection of in-service bridges and structures.
Conduct analysis, design, calculations, and prepare specifications, details, and construction plans.
Assist in construction engineering.
Observe and document construction activities.
Evaluate construction for compliance with contract documents.
Interpret plans for design intent.
Other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For Qualifications that would set you up for success:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with coursework in structural engineering.
Ability to sit for the 16-hour NCEES Structural exam.
0-5 years of experience.
Registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is desirable.
Technical Skills Proficiency with the following software programs is desirable:
MicroStation
AutoCAD/Civil 3D
REVIT
BIM
Structural Design software (STAAD, RISA, etc.)
Soft Skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desire to learn new skills.
Self-motivated.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Working at Hanson Ability to collaborate remotely.
Willingness to accept travel and work overtime as needed.
Valid driver’s license required.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $74,000
