Your New Role…
CNN seeks a talented Associate Producer (Temporary) to join the Smerconish team!
Your Role Accountabilities…
- The Associate Producer is responsible for viewing and selecting the strongest and most accurate video elements (packages, sound-bites, B-roll, etc.) for a newscast. APs should be familiar with all important stories and their associated elements.
- Communicate show needs with writers, producers, and assignment desks.
- Order and/or produce graphics, reporter packages, social media segments, and prepare editing requests. Use technological tools to research and gather archive video.
- Ensure all video elements are properly prepared for air and that media source records include accurate details.
- Work in the control room to communicate the status of video elements and ensure the best elements are available quickly.
Your Qualifications & Experience…
- At least two years as an AP, writer/producer, or producer in local news, cable, or at the network level.
- Strong news awareness and production skills, with the desire to work in a 24-hour newsroom environment. Ability to react quickly and calmly to breaking news.
- Professional demeanor in challenging situations and ability to react under duress.
- Knowledge of iNews is highly beneficial.
- Understanding of graphics, social media, and non-linear production is essential.
- Be aggressive, adaptable to changing technology, demonstrate strong editorial judgment, and be willing to work as needed.
- Flexibility to support breaking news and coverage in all day parts.
- A four-year degree or equivalent work experience.

In compliance with local law, we disclose the salary range for this role: $35,360 - $48,672 per year. Actual salaries vary based on factors such as market data, location, experience, and performance. Compensation includes base salary, bonuses, incentives, and benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and more.
