Position in the State Court of Cobb County

This position requires a Certified Court Reporter license issued by the Georgia Board of Court Reporting.

Salary: Negotiable based on Court Reporting experience.

Qualifications

  • Certified Court Reporter license issued by the Georgia Board of Court Reporting. Applicants from other states with a CCR or those who have passed the certification exam but do not yet hold a Georgia CCR should contact the Georgia Board of Court Reporting at https://ocp.georgiacourts.gov/board-of-court-reporting/ to obtain their Georgia CCR license.
  • Associate Degree in Court Reporting or related field, plus three years of experience in courtroom operations and procedures, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Georgia Court Reporting license.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Attend court and legal proceedings, take verbatim recordings using stenography and voice-to-text equipment, and ensure equipment functionality.
  2. Prepare certified written and electronic transcripts, proofread, edit, and file documents, and maintain confidentiality.
  3. Record, inventory, and store trial exhibits, entering information into court databases and managing physical exhibits according to laws and regulations.
  4. Prepare, collate, and bind transcripts, including digital copies, and respond to transcript requests within designated timeframes.
  5. Generate invoices for transcription services, bill clients, and maintain billing records.
  6. Maintain court reporting equipment and supplies, perform minor repairs, and coordinate major repairs with vendors.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Moderate physical effort required, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting (12-20 pounds), and other movements.
  • Some tasks require oral communication capabilities.
  • Work is performed in environments without adverse conditions.
