Our client, a prestigious law firm, is seeking a Library Clerk/Research Services Librarian to join their team. This is a hybrid position based out of their beautiful office located in Midtown Manhattan.
This position is responsible for fulfilling document delivery, docket, and case procurement requests using traditional and online sources (Lexis+, Westlaw, Bloomberg Law, Internet, PACER, and a variety of additional commercial and local providers), and other light legal research requests.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for obtaining requested items via document delivery in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Coordinates requests for materials from third-party libraries and interlibrary loans where applicable.
- Purchase reference materials from third-party vendors as requested.
- Answers ready reference requests as needed.
- Provide backup support for head librarian as needed.
- Process library vendor invoices.
- Manage database vendor password access.
- Assist in orientation of new attorneys to library services, procedures, and policies.
- Supervise library contract looseleaf filer.
- Perform other projects at the request of the head librarian.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field; Master’s degree in Library and Information Science highly preferred.
- Prior library experience, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Working knowledge of LexisNexis, Westlaw, PACER, Bloomberg BNA; highly developed skills in conducting internet searches.
- Ability to work collaboratively with managers and employees at all levels.
- A flexible problem solver, self-directed, customer service oriented, and collaborative.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across all staff levels and backgrounds.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Provide functional guidance for administrative support needs.
- Excellent problem solving and analysis skills.
- A dynamic, business-savvy individual who can operate effectively at both operational and strategic levels, with the ability to influence without control.
Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 based on experience
