We are a boutique law firm in downtown Jacksonville specializing in complex commercial trials and appeals. We litigate high-stakes commercial and business cases throughout Florida and the country. Our team is smart, hard-working, and dedicated to our clients’ success. We are seeking an attorney with excellent research and writing skills to support and enhance our trial and appellate team. This position is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys delving into complex legal issues, crafting persuasive arguments, and producing high-quality legal memoranda, briefs, and other written work product. This position involves a substantial amount of legal research and writing, plus all other aspects of taking complex cases to trial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth legal research using Westlaw, public records, and other platforms in support of high-stakes business and commercial trials and appeals.
  • Draft polished work product that is clear, concise, organized, and persuasive.
  • Summarize case law, statutes, and regulatory developments for internal use.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant legal trends and developments.
  • Assist with pre-trial and trial preparation through development of strategy, crafting arguments, evidentiary analysis, and related written work product.
  • Propound discovery, take and defend depositions, argue hearings, and appear at trial.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active (or anticipated) Florida license.
  • 2+ years of experience with legal research and writing (clerkship or prior litigation or appellate experience preferred).
  • Exceptional legal writing, editing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing polished written work product.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting dispositive motions, appellate briefs, or agency position statements.
  • Judicial clerkship or law review/journal background is a plus.

Salary negotiable, health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k); CLE support.
