WEEKEND AM SEGMENT PRODUCER:

KTLA is looking for a dynamic Segment Producer for L.A.’s #1 rated Weekend Morning Newscast. Candidate must be able to work under pressure and meet various deadlines. This person also needs to be current on events; flexible in an ever-changing news environment; and possess strong personable skills for dealing with guests. The ideal candidate will also pitch segment ideas and participate in meetings with the weekend morning team.

DUTIES:

  1. Conceptualize, book, write, and produce weekly live news segments, including hard news, community events, and feature segments.
  2. Serve as the face of our Weekend Morning News to guests and clients, maintaining positive relationships. Prior relationships with publicists and PR are preferred.
  3. Post segments on ktla.com after airing and contribute to the show's social media (IG, X, Threads, Bluesky, TikTok).
  4. Develop and produce live in-studio segments and live field segments; adapt to breaking news and changing circumstances.
  5. Fact-check, write unbiased content, and maintain segment and show documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Availability to work weekend mornings
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments
  • Positive and productive interaction with colleagues
  • College degree or equivalent experience; at least 3 years of experience in a similar role at a medium to large market station preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and ENPS is a plus
  • Compensation: $33.50/hour+
