Gulf Coast News (NBC) in Fort Myers, FL has an opening for a Local News Producer who knows how to create meaningful and memorable newscasts. The role involves winning big stories, owning breaking news, and displaying important weather information. You must be fast, collaborative, and accurate. You will report to the Executive Producer.

Responsibilities

• Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to create an engaging viewer experience
• Guide reporters in story production
• Coordinate creative vision with anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff
• Manage assigned newscasts, breaking news, and weather events
• Live timing of newscasts

Requirements

• Professional or college producing experience
• Experience in a newsroom
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills
• Ability to coordinate multiple crews and responsibilities
• Skill in summarizing information clearly
• Creative presentation style and resourcefulness
• High journalistic integrity and ethical standards
• Availability to work holidays, nights, weekends, and overnights, with flexibility for breaking news
• Military experience considered
• In-person attendance required
