Customs Entry Writer

Salary: $50k to $65k, depending on experience.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of current experience in Customs Entries within the Freight Forwarding industry.
  • Valid visa to work in the USA. Note: Visa sponsorship is not available.

Candidate profile:

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of international import transportation, import brokerage procedures, U.S. Customs and Border Protection ("Customs"), and Participating Government Agency ("PGA") requirements, including the clearance process, classification, and valuation.

Key skills: Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and produce accurate workflows in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Ability to contribute positively to the team.

Job responsibilities:

  1. Manage accounts from start to finish, including preparing all documentation necessary for Customs clearance and PGA compliance.
  2. Provide excellent, thorough, and prompt customer service.
  3. Perform tasks assigned by managers or team leads to meet departmental needs.
  4. Prepare Arrival Notices, set up files, and input data from agents and freight forwarders.
  5. File Customs entries for clearance, work with Customs and other agencies to obtain cargo release.
  6. Handle billing, including ISF filings, and manage documentation such as bills of lading, certificates of origin, and commercial packing lists.
  7. Coordinate with CBP and other agencies regarding quarantine issues, fees, and duty taxes.
  8. Sign documents on behalf of clients using power of attorney.
