Gensler's Critical Facilities practice is seeking a talented architect to join our expanding team. We value candidates experienced in designing and delivering high-tech architecture projects, such as data centers, high-density labs, and other complex facilities. You will play a key role in supporting our clients' growth initiatives, collaborating with global and regional leaders to lead project teams and develop client relationships. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both design and technical project delivery.
Our Critical Facilities practice uniquely integrates expertise across Gensler's practice areas, enabling us to serve clients with evolving technical needs. Beyond data centers, our projects include high-performance research facilities, command centers, SCIFs, AI centers, and other technology-intensive projects.
Your Role
As a Gensler Design Manager in Architecture, you will utilize your attention to detail and interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional projects on schedule and within budget. You will coordinate resources, serve as the primary liaison with clients, and lead the design and delivery of world-class Data Centers and Critical Facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative architectural projects across the data center and critical facilities market. What You Will Do
Lead client projects and project teams, communicating objectives, scope, terms, and schedules Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and coordination with clients, vendors, and contractors Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and bid projects Monitor financial performance, including fees, change orders, and collections Oversee the full project lifecycle from estimation to close-out Collaborate on design solutions and documentation with project teams Guide documentation and pricing through construction Address technical and design challenges to ensure project success Manage project specifications to align with design intent Coordinate with authorities for approvals and compliance Your Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related field 8+ years of project and team management experience Critical Facilities and data center project experience is mandatory Professional license or certification preferred Experience negotiating scope, fees, and managing project finances Knowledge of building materials, specs, and construction techniques for core and shell architecture Strong understanding of building codes, zoning, and jurisdictional processes Extensive experience in construction documentation and field observation Proficiency with project management software like MS Project is a plus Strong skills in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay is beneficial Understanding of engineering disciplines for technical infrastructure projects To apply, please submit your cover letter, resume, and portfolio in PDF format. *The salary range is estimated between $110,000 - $135,000 plus bonuses and benefits, based on experience.
