Job Description: SCAD Professor of Animation

As a SCAD professor, your responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and preparing for teaching
  2. Maintaining an active and engaging classroom environment
  3. Designing, submitting, and obtaining approval for syllabi
  4. Holding office hours and conducting midterm grade reviews
  5. Providing extra help sessions, extended-learning opportunities, and field trips
  6. Conducting program-level assessments

You will model professionalism, fulfill grading and documentation requirements, record attendance, adhere to academic policies, and support institutional assessment and effectiveness efforts.

The SCAD animation program emphasizes storytelling through character performance. As a professor, you will influence the next generation of animators, bringing your unique perspective, cultural background, and professional experiences into your teaching.

Additional duties include attending faculty meetings, admission events, curriculum development, accreditation support, and participating in exhibitions or publicity events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in animation or a related field
  • Academic and professional credentials to teach in your discipline
  • Experience or knowledge of related professions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Collegiate teaching experience
  • Credentialing through SACS guidelines

Travel Required: Less than 10%

Work Hours: As specified in the employment agreement
