SUMMARY:

The Web Content Specialist, under the direction of the Manager of Web Content, creates, reviews, edits, and assists in producing web content that supports and increases efforts to fulfill the mission of the Office of Marketing and Communications and the university. Projects also include developing, deploying, and analyzing web-based marketing solutions for the university and campus partners.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists Manager of Web Content in carrying out the web content strategy
  • Upholds East Texas A&M’s brand guidelines for web writing
  • Edits, publishes, and maintains WordPress webpages for accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Communicates directly with stakeholders to develop, update and revise content
  • Educates stakeholders on the website maintenance process and brand guidelines
  • Writes effective calls-to-action to convert visitors
  • Writes effective SEO content for blogs, websites and social media accounts
  • Reviews and revises content
  • Identifies powerful keywords to drive the most valuable traffic
  • Analyzes keywords and SEO techniques used by competitors
  • Compiles and presents SEO guidelines
  • Develops link-building strategies
  • Researches and reports on best practices for web publications
  • Fosters relationships with campus partners and key persons to create relevant and accurate marketing collateral

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience: Prior experience in web content writing, marketing and/or content editing. Prior experience working in a university setting with educational professionals.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Associated Press, Chicago Manual of Style or similar style guides. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills
  • Ability to:
    • Think creatively and strategically, and identify and resolve problems
    • Multitask and work cooperatively with others
    • Present information clearly and concisely
    • Work within a project management system

PREFERRED EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Four or more years of position-related professional experience
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Experience working in the Teamwork project management system or a similar system

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

  • Assists with training and supervising student workers and graduate assistants as needed
